Small Community Gives Big Support to the Janeway

St. John’s, NL: The 9th Annual Calvert Masters Golf Tournament was held at the Wilds in Salmonier on August 16th. The tournament is organized by volunteers from the Calvert community. It is an event where current and past residents of the community are invited to play in support of The Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation. The 2018 event raised $46,500 for the Janeway.

“Thank you to the community of Calvert for choosing to support children’s health care in the province,” says Lynn Sparkes, President and CEO. “The Janeway is very fortunate to have the generous support of small communities like Calvert whose passion and commitment will help us create a healthier tomorrow. Our donors are essential in helping our medical team provide the best care possible.”

“Many thanks to our sponsors, golfers and social participants for helping us make the 9th Annual Calvert Masters a huge success! Over the last nine years, we are thrilled to have raised over $500,000 for local health care charities. This is such a unique event for those of us who grew up or currently live in Calvert to come together and support the Janeway Hospital – and have a fun time doing it!” says Tim Murphy, member of the planning committee.

All net proceeds will assist the Janeway Foundation to acquire the newest pediatric medical equipment, continued education, life-saving research and vital programming for pediatric health care at the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre.
