2023 Janeway Telethon Launched
Funds raised will purchase surgical and diagnostic equipment for the Janeway
Today at Peacock Primary in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, the Janeway Foundation launched its Telethon fundraising season. The 39th Janeway Children’s Miracle Network Telethon will broadcast on NTV on June 3rd and June 4th. This year’s goal is to raise $2.5 million to purchase highly specialized pieces of surgical and diagnostic imaging equipment for the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre.
“Throughout the year, the Janeway Foundation receives unwavering support from donors and volunteers throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. We want every donor and volunteer to know that their support has a significant direct impact on the care provided at the Janeway – thank you,” said Rebecca Dutton, President and CEO, Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation. “The equipment that you will help buy this year will allow the spectacular team at the Janeway to provide even better care to the children and youth of the province. It will help reduce wait times, limit discomfort for children, speed up healing time, and help ensure our kids get the care they need right here in Newfoundland and Labrador.”
The launch brought together representatives from the local community and Janeway donors to celebrate the Telethon, the largest annual fundraiser for the children’s hospital. Enthusiastic entertainment was provided by the host school, Peacock Primary’s Grade 2 Choir and Peacock Primary Ukesters, ukulele group.
“This is our first time to launch the Telethon in Labrador and we couldn’t be more excited! The Janeway is our only pediatric healthcare facility and serves the entire child and youth population. So, start rallying your group and call us at 709-777-4640!” said Ruth Squires, Telethon Manager.
