Teddy Bear Convoy 2020

2020 is an Unprecedented Year, But the Need Remains

Over the last several months, the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation, like every other charity and business, has had to adapt and adjust, in every way imaginable and unimaginable.
Our community fundraising Projects, led by our exceptional volunteers, are being creative in their efforts to continue vital fundraising for the Janeway, and we appreciate their determination!
The Teddy Bear Convoy, one of the Janeway’s longest-running fundraisers, was designed to raise funds for the Janeway Hospital. Seeing the excitement and smiles on the faces of the patients, their families and staff waiting on the curb, and knowing there are groups gathered at hospital windows, is a highlight for the drivers.

How to Give:

Keeping in mind the health and wellness of the drivers, their families, and the organizers, the Teddy Bear Convoy is pre-empted for this year only. We know how enjoyable it is to congregate and socialize before and after the event, however the current public health restrictions do not allow large gatherings to take place.
We still need your help, now more than ever, to continue providing the best care possible.

Go back to your family and friends who sponsor you year after year and ask for their support.
Good news! When you donate online, an official tax receipt is emailed to you automatically!

Why are we raising money?

This October, the 2020 Janeway Children’s Miracle Network Telethon will focus its fundraising efforts to purchase one of the Janeway Hospital’s highest priority pieces of equipment – a new $3 Million CT Scan for the Diagnostic Imaging Department. Used by every major department within the Janeway, CT scanning provides medical information that is different from other imaging examinations.

For kids like five-year old Nate who developed severe abdominal pain during the COVID-19 pandemic, the scariness of the unknown increased tenfold for his family. Living in rural Newfoundland and Labrador with limited pediatric care, Nate had to be transported to the Janeway. He underwent various tests, including a CT scan, ultimately requiring surgery to remove his appendix.
“The professionalism, compassion and dedication of all staff at the Janeway, especially during the current pandemic, was outstanding. Knowing such services are available provides much relief and eases our minds. The nurses, physicians, and all staff of the Janeway are angels amongst us and for their care of Nate, we will be eternally grateful.” ~ Glenda, Nate’s Mom
