Who we are:
The Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to raising funds to support paediatric health care in Newfoundland and Labrador. Funds raised through the Foundation contribute to the purchase of medical equipment, staff education, research, and programs related to children’s health and welfare.
Who we need:
Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Development; the Development Coordinator is a new role for the Foundation and will be an integral member of the development team. They are responsible for supporting the Foundation’s fundraising events and donor relationships, including strategic cultivation and stewardship processes that will help the Foundation achieve its goals. Additionally, the Development Coordinator will work with the team to coordinate campaign messaging and media outreach. The Development Coordinator will be instrumental in maintaining relationships with our Children’s Miracle Network partners, will be vital to the delivery of the Janeway Telethon, and will be a key member of the communications team ensuring the community is informed and excited about supporting the work of the Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre.
Responsibilities:
– Support the Janeway Foundation’s most significant Children’s Miracle Network and corporate partners through store visits, community promotion, inspiring front-line employees, event logistics management, etc.
– Provide support for Foundation signature and third-party events. This can include coordinating logistics, volunteers, media, administration, etc.
– Assist with the creation of new potential Foundation fundraising events.
– Media support for the Foundation, including traditional media logistics and social media support (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn).
– Assist with the development of funding proposals and communications relating to funding proposals.
– Supporting the Foundation’s communication efforts through written and visual communications. This may include assisting with capturing and communicating patient stories, creating and updating event collateral, updating imagery for social media, the website, the newsletter, etc.
– Supporting the stewardship of the Foundations donors by assisting with information gathering, report creation, etc.
– Volunteer coordination (recruitment, training and scheduling).
Qualifications:
– A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline (a relevant combination of work experience and other education may be considered in place of completed post-secondary degree/diploma).
– 1-3 years of experience in fundraising, business development, retail, sales, and/or sponsorship.
– A proven track record of success in cultivating, soliciting, and securing client and/or donor relationships.
– Excellent writing, editing and speaking skills.
– Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work easily and effectively with a wide range of people including donors, fellow staff members, and other non-profit representatives.
– Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and quality.
– Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
– Knowledge of common business software (Microsoft Office) as well as relevant donor management software (Raiser’s Edge NXT) would be an asset.
– Proficiency with social media applications and an understanding of trends and best practices would be an asset.
– Creativity and experience in creative design would be an asset.
– Willingness to participating in training as appropriate.
Working Conditions
This position is located in St. John’s, NL but will require some travel. Candidates will need to have a valid driver’s and access to a vehicle. This position is being offered on a permanent, full-time basis. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
Physical Effort: Carrying materials related to events etc., may be required. Sitting for long periods of time is expected.
Sensory Attention: Long periods of intense concentration will be expected from time to time. Special events can be very busy with multiple elements, and the environments can change, depending on the event.
Dress/Demeanor: Business casual attire and a professional demeanor are expected.
